19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Success also means he has won 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent saved four initial chances in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
